When people misuse the word literally, they literally don’t.

Literally, it can be used in an exaggerated way to emphasize a statement or description that is *not* literally true or possible.

Meaning there literally is no word for literally. 🤯

Second entry in Merrian-Webster for the word literally:

informal : in effect: VIRTUALLY → used in an exaggerated way to emphasize a statement or description that is not literally true or possible

Example usage:
literally died of embarrassment.
... will literally turn the world upside down to combat cruelty or injustice.. – Norman Cousins.
