Arctic heatwave in Alert, Canada, the northernmost permanently inhabited place on Earth. Temperatures have reached a record 21°C, far exceeding the region’s average July temperature highs of 6°C. Arctic heating up 3x faster than other parts of the planet. weforum.org/agenda/2019/07…
Can’t shake how aptly named that settlement is...
If you need a visual of where Alert is on a map, this is a good satellite photo. Alert is 817 km from the North Pole.

@AngelosArnis Yes, it's almost a year since the big one in Greece when so many died.

@thorvertonian @mollywatttrust I'm really fond of Laura Brydges' hidden disability symbol as it has transparency around how it came about:

@mollywatttrust Never seen that before. It kind of looks like a play on the Apple accessibility icon, which I guess is a spin on Vitruvian man.

@mollywatttrust My thinking on the one at Heathrow is that I like the allusion to a globe, which can bring to mind inclusiveness of everyone. But icons are notoriously difficult of course.

I owe thanks to @kimgoodwin for pointing out these panda-themed shirts to me.
Yes, I have more! You know, stay tuned and all that 😂 🐼
There is no system of bail in Sweden. 😝
To be fair, many people around the world seem to know more about the American justice system than that of any other country. At least the Hollywood version. We also don't have a jury system (except in "freedom of the press" matters). x.com/TheLocalSweden…
If you're curious about more differences, there is this dissertation:

So you still work for free, usability and accessibility suffers, and someone else is paid. Awesome. Great alternative.

My friends know how I feel about bacon... but what if bacon can make people eat more vegetarian food! 🤯
Burger King is also doing the 50/50 burger. You either get meat or vegetarian option, it’s a 50% chance and they won’t tell you what you got. I think I like these ideas. x.com/Lazer/status/1…

No Longer Human is a first-person novel about a person in Japan who feels out-of-place with humanity. I started on that one since it was the shortest one and easiest to bring to the sun chair. 😎
