@tsvenson And so a CMS that does not support RSS could be marketed as a tool for bloggers?

@theDayrooth Is this an argument for or against? 🤔
If a blog does not have an RSS feed, is it really a blog? Discuss.
As a sidenote I consume most of my media via the brilliant @Feedbin now. I believe RSS is making a comeback and not having it will make you fall behind.
Pro tip: Feedbin also manages Twitter following of people, tags, lists, search queries. And e-mail newsletters!
I think we need to stop for a moment and appreciate this response from @DARPA: x.com/darpa/status/1…
Then we can panic.

”These tools generate many of the same biases as human law-enforcement officers, but with the false patina of technical neutrality.”
”Scholars have been pointing to the technical and social risks of facial recognition for years. Greater accuracy is not the point. We need strong legal safeguards that guarantee civil rights, fairness and accountability. Otherwise, this technology will make all of us less free.”

A friend was at Target today. Woman in front of her in line can't remember the pin to her card.
Woman to cashier: Can you look up my pin? I shop here all the time.
Then, turning to my friend: Do you know astrology? I think it's my zodiac sign.
Together they figured it out. 😂
The wildest thing about this story is that it wasn't my friend who had lost their pin. This is a person who unwittingly once left a gas station in someone else's car, who had also left their keys in the ignition.
Some stories I have like this I can't even tell, because even the anonymized version of the story contains enough data points to reveal someone's identity.
Honestly, the lesson to learn here is that we're just human, and the foolish behavior is us expecting everyone to understand the ins and outs of tech enough to stay safe. Which is why the tech itself needs to come with better safeguards against harm.
Not everything is a problem to be solved. Sometimes you just have to be with a person as they share their grievances. Don't suggest. Don't object. Don't solve. Just be. Presence is what nobody went out of their way to give them.

Messages in WhatsApp are stopping immigrants. How dangerous defaults hurt vulnerable people.
Information stored on phones is increasingly used in court cases and to determine the trustworthiness and honesty of people seeking to enter another country. So what happens when the source of the information is someone else entirely, and you had no intention of saving it on your phone or even awareness that it was happening?

@oscarheed Ah yes, teaching the AI to forget faces.
"Anonymous face recognition." How is it not obvious that this is an oxymoron? #doublespeak
