That it’s Fox News leading the way in running the polls showing a majority for impeachment, and now this letter, is strangely gratifying.

↪ Replying to @berkun
@berkun Yes! I’m often wondering if the author really wants me to read the preface first, or if it’s just there to fulfil a normalized layout.
↪ Replying to @Anders_Lindberg
@Anders_Lindberg Ah, good point, thank you Anders!
The mining industry in Kiruna (northern part of Sweden) is causing underground deformations that are putting buildings at risk. This means they’re moving large parts of the town about 3km due east. No joke. This video shows the bizarre visual of a large house being moved. x.com/Anders_Lindber…
Here’s that same house arriving close to its destination.

And another house. x.com/angrytheinch/s…
I wonder about packing for a move like this...

Check out the wheels used to steer and turn this contraption!

This is a much better explanation than mine of what’s going on here. They’re moving the town and they’re doing it long before anything is in danger.

Asking to be deleted from a company because they are sending me client text messages based on a cell number that I took over from someone else 9 years ago. To be deleted I have to fill in a request form and provide them with many more details than they already have about me. 🤬
You may be reading about how only 2 women were awarded Nobel prizes this year. Not true.
Actually, Olga Tokarczuk received the 2018 award for literature. And Duflo's economics prize is not formally a Nobel prize.
The total number of female Nobel prize winners in 2019 is zero.
Here's why the economics prize is not technically a Nobel Prize: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_Mem…
Those in the know will of course remember that the 2018 Nobel Prize in literature was announced this year since it was suspended last year due to a sexual assault scandal.

Analogy I heard on Greta Thunberg's success the other week: she is like the child who pointed out that the emperor has no clothes. This gives others the courage to also speak up and point out the same.

↪ Replying to @britstakston
@britstakston 13% låter spontant som en hög siffra.
↪ Replying to @babiejenks
@babiejenks Absolutely agree. Not saying anything was perfect before, but we had outspoken goals and regular initiatives to make things better. Not even really saying it’s social medias fault... mostly what humans tend to do with unregulated power. 😕 Also, global network effects complicate.
For decades democratic countries worked on putting structures in place to help news media scrutinize power, to discourage false reporting and deter misleading information. Social media circumvented the structures and became the power itself. Lies and threats became currency.

Wow. The Missing Cryptoqueen does not disappoint. Shivers already in episode 2. Mindblowing and important podcast series (8 episodes). Schools should have students listen to this. Everyone should listen to this. Impressive work by @JamieJBartlett.

What happens when we confuse price with value? We undervalue care. We pollute more. The financial sector is allowed to brag about how productive it is while just moving around existing value, created by others.
