When you post images online of strangers (on a plane, at a conference, etc) do you ever stop to consider how face recognition tools now know more about those people, with cross-references to the location of the event and more?
I've unsubscibed to 7 marketing newsletters so far just today (around 12 for the whole week). How is everyone else's #BlackFriday going? x.com/axbom/status/1…
It was disappointing to see even Bahnhof jumping on the bandwagon. Also the exact same offer they had on Oct 3 and Nov 8. So nothing to do with Black Friday really.

I love this article so much! 😀
"Decisions have to be made, somebody has to lay out a strategy, doubt must stop at some point. For that reason, companies hire overconfident people who act like they know what they cannot possibly know." @The_Corres

This article is brilliant and I'm laughing and crying at the images of those confident consultants.
"The experiment continued for another eight weeks. What was the effect of pulling the ads? Almost none. For every dollar eBay spent on search advertising, they lost roughly 63 cents, according to Tadelis’s calculations.
"The experiment ended up showing that, for years, eBay had been spending millions of dollars on fruitless online advertising excess, and that the joke had been entirely on the company."
"Decisions have to be made, somebody has to lay out a strategy, doubt must stop at some point. For that reason, companies hire overconfident people who act like they know what they cannot possibly know."
Hat tip to Malin West for the recommendation.
For #BlackFriday, if you really want to spend money, spend it on a cause you believe in.
I believe in advancing children's rights and equality for girls. @PlanGlobal works on this. But I urge you to find the cause that makes sense to you.

For #BlackFriday, just giving someone a hug or sending happy thoughts, a smile or thank you will work wonders as well. Take care of yourself first, and help others when you are doing okay.

@DrSalmaPatel @SimonHurstUX I’ll have to figure out how all this works tomorrow and do a write-up. You sure you’re not blocking cookies from Medium, Simon?
↪ Replying to @schoeyfield
@schoeyfield @feedbin Awesome! I've just been thinking of doing exactly this the last couple of days! (voice-recording blog posts).
Weird about no article rss though.

@DrSalmaPatel It's extra confusing because if you visit a Medium article via Twitter you bypass the paywall. That's why a lot of people on Twitter still think it's free =)

@schoeyfield I do miss the blogosphere days, where many people were on an RSS reader. Today @feedbin is my tool for reading and twitter (and twitter tags) allow discovery. But I also feel more content following specific blogs of people I trust and know. What are your rss feeds? :)
Why I stopped using Medium as a platform.
Many writers aren't even aware of the 3-article per month reading limit. x.com/odannyboy/stat…

Incredibly thankful for a review like this. I might just treat myself to a coffee and something sweet after reading. 😊
"If you are a leader (public or private sector) or work for a company or organization which currently is utilizing the recent digital/technology revolution to its advantage, I would consider Digital Compassion a must read!"

@dabitch @Twitter True. I perhaps should have added ”*finally* did”.
Your reminder to include partners, relatives and close friends of deceased users in your impact mapping.
When someone is being harmed, raise your voice. And as an organization, listen to those voices. I’m glad @Twitter did here.

There is a trend going around that a ”nudge” that is obviously manipulation that exploits the user should be called a ”sludge”. It’s been adopted by Thaler himself.
That’s cute ’n all.
But how about we just call it manipulation.
I won’t address nudging itself. That’s a mile-long blog post...
I love black friday week only because I can systematically unsubscribe to all the marketing newsletters I'd forgotten about. This week they all arrive close in time to each other.

The most straightforward and perfect thing I've read about #accessibility in a long time.
What people like and what people need are not the same.
