I've taken on too much client work which I know affects my health, relationships and performance. But also something that is too easily done as a freelancer. I e-mailed a client, was open about my situation and asked for an extension. They agreed to this. Transparency FTW.

The ACT (Australian Capital Territory), including the Australian capital Canberra and some surrounding townships, are advised by ESA (Emergency Services Agency) to have a getaway bag ready if they need to evacuate.

”I believe that before we can truly dialogue with one another we must first perceive intellectually, and then at the profoundest emotional level, that there is no Other—that the Other is simply Oneself in all the significant essentials.”

@ronbronson @ezactron Would be interesting to do a comparison of the different ways of complying. I suppose that’s what you’re inadvertently doing...
↪ Replying to @ronbronson
@ronbronson @ezactron There’s a new law in California as of this year prohibiting default passwords in connected devices, but I guess you’re aware of this? I suppose suppliers now make all routers comply. The app solution is obviously still a very poor way of solving this.
”Our leading technologists increasingly see human beings as a problem, and technology as the solution – and they use our behavior on their platforms as evidence of our essentially flawed nature.”

”If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said less horseshit.”
Whatever Henry Ford may or may not have said, there is no evidence he ever said anything about faster horses. And his contribution to human transportation is not about inventing cars (he didn’t) but about freezing the design of the Model T and adapting assembly lines to cars. This brought down prices significantly and brought cars to more people. His insistence on sticking with this strategy is what in the end made him lose most of Ford’s market share to General Motors. This was an example of his refusal to continuously test his vision against reality.
People didn’t want faster horses, they wanted ”better cars, with better financing options”.
When a smooth-talking advisor brings you the quote about faster horses to make their point, please do feel free to question it. And make time to have a conversation about whatever point they’re making. Because, like most quotes, it simplifies a problem space (which people love) and alludes to an air of wisdom (not always warranted), and can be either made up, misattributed or dangerously out of context.
Choose your quotes with care.

What is going on with this story... How can Teen Vogue themselves say with a straight face they do not know what is going on? Thread: x.com/robaeprice/sta…
Great thread on Factfulness. You should obviously read the whole book. It should, in fact, be compulsory. But why not start here if you haven’t.
