As people are upset about Meta's moderation policies I'd expect them to be upset about Substack as well.

Mullvad is actually the only one I trust on this list. In their case it's possible, for purposes of anonymity, to send cash payments through the post.
The only thing you need for their service is a generated account number. They don't ask for name, email, password, anything… and no subscriptions.

Yes, it's out of character and upsetting. Even branding it as "Apple Intelligence" was a turn down a misguided path.
Never forget their video crushing human creativity.
And they doubled down on portraying ill-advised people relying on statistical word salad to impress family and bosses.
From the company that lauded people "pushing the human race forward", they sure went in the other direction for a while there.

It's striking how easy it is to agree that wellbeing is more important than saving time, and still continue sacrificing wellbeing at the altar of an illusive deity awarded the name of efficiency.
They weren't Luddites because they didn't understand technology, or because they hated the technology.
They were Luddites because they saw beyond the technology and understood how it was being used against them - and against others.
They hated the exploitation.
Not being one is revelatory.
When I see these two letters in this order I’m filled with a sense of calm, pride, respect and trust.
Almost the polar opposite of what I feel when the letters are reversed. 😅

Can tools be political?
If a tool is oppressive, exploitative, creates inequality, exacerbates bias and/or endangers people and the environment I’m not sure how it couldn’t be regarded as political.
It's that time of the decade again when acquainting yourself with the Fediverse is perhaps a good idea.

By being overtly positive towards – and supportive of – something that harms other people, I'd be more than complicit. I'd view myself as oppressive.
This is what goes through my mind when I'm searching for ways to talk about certain aspects of tech in a more positive light.
