There are nearly 7,000 languages and dialects in the world. ~7% of these are reflected in published online material. ~98% of the internet’s web pages are published in just 12 languages, more than half in English. When sourcing the entire Internet, that is still a small part of humanity.

"The problem is that when people are late to understand the original warning, a new crisis has already emerged from the delay, requiring new understanding and new solutions."

I want to see more pledges like this one by Posthaven. We should be able to trust that our content can outlive us.
I’m sad for all the beautiful texts by great writers that have been lost because of how internet publishing tends to work.

I’m using it in a project now and am quite impressed. Except for that one thing…

They are also changing the Microsoft 365 Copilot URL to M365Copilot.com and redirecting office.com and Microsoft365.com to m365.cloud.microsoft.
All the markings of a scam…
Finally trying out @penpot.app for some design work and immediately I get stuck on not being able to add a border to just one side of a square element. This felt like an odd feature to ignore for so many years…?
This was very helpful.
@aitor.is: The @dropbox service in Linux is crap. They keep building tools I don't care about and ignore the core sync service most of us bought them for. A few days ago, I said enough. This is a thread on the services I have been testing to replace it and what I've learned.

Would love a second opinion on Internxt for cloud file storage. Their pricing (and security) looks very appealing.

I’ve had this issue as well. The documentation says they support animated gif uploads but it won’t work for me.

Fantastiskt bra Elin.
You kind of know, but not really… it’s such an incomprehensible amount of money.
This interactive visualisation of Elon Musk’s net worth gives pause for thought.

Explanation of this comic in a sentence:
AI companies give an outward appearance of competing but actually work together to poison the Internet.

Anyone tried FairBnB?
Looks to be most popular in Central and Western Europe.

They’re only deactivating ”AI” summaries for News. So you can still get really bad summaries for your texts and emails, like this one.
I’m honestly baffled by Apple’s perseverance on this.

@arstechnica.com: AI-powered notification summaries are still the squeaky wheel among Apple Intelligence's offerings.

Both. If you allow it, people who have you in their address book will still easily find you via phone number. The username is to give you the choice of not revealing your phone number to all people.
I do wish more people would acknowledge this simple principle of generative AI. It’s ”hallucinations” all the way down.
@coreybrickley.bsky.social: yeah ill bang this drum as many times as i need to, everything produced by generative ai is a "hallucination." Accuracy is a coincidence

In times of stress it’s so easy to think you don’t have time for this.
There must always be time for this, and especially in times of stress.
@axbom.com: Our PM picked up on team members being stressed and over-worked. She invited us to a 2-hour session where we got to have conversations about who we are, how we like to get things done, when we need space, etc. Just wanted to share that this is NEVER wasted time.
