After moving to Eurosky I've realised the logical next step is to run my very own personal data server, giving me even more independence and control over my own data.
Reading this post from @brent.atproto.bront.rodeo and it seems ridiculously easy.

This! đ
@shannonvallor.bsky.social: I was in two intensive week-long workshops this year with neuroscientists, philosophers and computer scientists and not *one* thought LLMs are conscious, or that anything is âmysteriousâ in a model trained on scifi and Internet chat doing woo-woo musing about self-consciousness. And do you know why?

Been working on and off for a week on a graphic outlining Harms of the AI Ecosystem. Excited to soon share it in a newsletter / blog post, but here is a sneak peek đ
Still some tweaks, tests and details before I feel it's ready.

Thank you! On my end I'm seeing my profile pic so I had no idea others weren't seeing it. Will take a look, thanks!
In other news, I just used the edit button on mu.social to edit one of my "Bluesky/Eurosky" posts. When you use mu.social rather than bsky.app you have an edit button for your post for 5 minutes after posting. Love seeing variations in these AT Proto clients.

I really have to write up a guide to the Atmosphere so I have somewhere to point when people ask me what that is, and why I say Eurosky or AT Proto - when they obviously see me on BlueskyâŠ
For now I'll say Atmosphere is like the Fediverse, but with AT Proto instead of ActivityPub.

I'd say it's more of a social media/influencer/marketing space now. So -> many connections gives you more reach. And there are quite a few people who left Twitter but never made it to Bluesky/Atmosphere or Fediverse, using LinkedIn as their microblog.
What fresh LinkedIn hell is this?! Under Invitations:
"X is inviting you to follow because you engaged with their content." [Accept]
INVITING YOU TO FOLLOW?!
They don't even want to be a contact.

Sometimes I'm struck by how deeply dehumanizing it is to liken machine function with the wonder of personhood.
Rather than Substack or Medium, you can use Leaflet for writing.
As it's part of the Atmosphere you can log in to Leaflet with your Bluesky account.
And the free tier even allows a custom domain!

I've moved my AT Proto data from Bluesky to Eurosky, all hosted in Europe. My followers/following and all posts are intact. My username remains the same as I'm using my own domain.
An invisible step for my contacts, a big step for independent social media and data ownership.

I can keep using Bluesky, and you can interact with me, just as before the data moved. I can also use my Eurosky account to log in to many other AT Proto apps.
These apps of course also work if you stay with Bluesky for data management.
Just sign in with Bluesky credentials.

I'll be doing a writeup on #Eurosky, #ATProto, #Atmosphere and related concepts for my newsletter. Expect a diagram or two đ

Now if I log into Bluesky I just have to remember to specify eurosky.social as the server ââ it's a good idea to keep track of where your data lives. đ
(Next time I log in it will be pre-selected.)
Or, instead of Bluesky, I can interact with all my Bluesky pals via *mu*, a social application by Eurosky for reading, posting, and following conversations across the open social web.
None of my Bluesky friends need to know which app I am using.
Tip: if Bluesky is down, head over to mu

Wait, how many apps can I log into with my Bluesky/Eurosky/ATProto account? Well, quite a few⊠and this is a good place to start:

Your questions should be answered in this migration guide:
eurosky.tech/accounts/mig...
The short answer is yes. What you may want to keep an eye on is your username. By switching to a custom domain before migration I believe mentions of your old username will be 'linked' to your new username.
