« Men det finns en annan kategori av gärningsmän, som begår andra typer av brott som inte drabbar någon enskild på det sättet. Som drabbar gärningsmannen hårdast och som i många fall bara händer en gång. I de situationerna har vi hittills utgått från att försöka ge stöd och hjälp. Så långt som möjligt.
Av förslagen som presenterats i betänkandet ”En straffreform” framgår att det nu är motsatsen som ska tillämpas. Men förändringen sker inte genom att bestämmelsen skrivs om. Man går ett steg längre. Man tar bort den helt och hållet från och med halvårsskiftet, enligt besked från regeringen.
Påföljdssystemet svänger i och med det ljudlöst och snabbt 180 grader. Grundläggande och beprövade tankar om rehabilitering pulveriseras. Vi kommer bara att ha två påföljder; böter och fängelse. Straff med inslag av vård kan i vissa fall dömas ut, som fängelse som är villkorat.
Hur man än vänder och vrider på lagförslagen i utredningen måste vård ses som undantag. Även om möjligheter till vård nämns i betänkande konstateras att fler ska dömas till fängelse. Det är numer ett konkret mål i sig. »
« Vilka konsekvenser den här förändringen av påföljdssystemet kommer att få hade man förstått om man suttit sig igenom ett heldagsting i vilken domstol som helst. Om man en helt vanlig onsdag lyssnat på de brottmål som ändå är de som är vanligast förekommande. Trafikbrott, stöld, och skadegörelse. De som inte är särskilt dramatiska och inte berör särskilt förhärdade brottslingar. Bilden av att alla som hamnar på fel sida skranket har begått riktigt allvarliga brott som skadat andra stämmer inte överens med hur det är på riktigt. Inte över huvud taget.
Så, inom kort kan den som har begått en stöld och straffas för första gången, dömas till fängelse. Kanske har den som gjorde det misstaget en intellektuell funktionsvariation, eller ett missbruk som bryter ned allt och alla runtomkring. Det spelar längre ingen roll, man ska hamna på anstalt direkt och med en gång. För att straffas. Eventuellt får man avtjäna i Estland.
Om allt detta kan man tycka att det är rätt eller fel. För mig är en sak säker. Hade jag inte slutat som domare tidigare hade jag gjort det nu. »

Nu är jag sugen på att starta en svensk online-tidskrift som bjuder in fler att skriva om sina farhågor och erfarenheter gällande auktoritarianism, klimatkris och tech-missbruk. Känns som vi skulle behöva en öppen, bevakningsfri och olåst sådan tidskrift för dessa berättelser.
Ja jag har inte ont om idéer i alla fall…

At times I felt frustrated and was judgemental, rolling my eyes every time I heard someone admitting to not having asked an important question for fear of being deemed nosy. I had mistaken this underdeveloped skill to ask questions for a lack of interest in those around them. Until one day I realised that this too had been a legacy of authoritarian times. Sharing or finding out the “wrong information” in an era of deep state surveillance could cost you your freedom. You therefore learned not to ask questions or share much about yourself as a way of keeping yourself and your family safe. This insight ignited my passion for deep conversations. Now I consider it a joyful expression of a free existence to ask profound questions. In times of a heightened threat of authoritarianism, asking deeper questions is a way of truly understanding yourself and connecting with those around you. Practicing the art of conversation is a defiance of authoritarianism.”

@troed I can see how this is a concern. And I can also see how 'utility or not' is perhaps not the main reason for opposition. There are many systemic issues going on at the same time, and people are often left out - experiencing being told they must adopt technology they don't have capacity to completely understand or dissect. In some cases people just know they didn't ask for it. In other cases they've seen enough of how it accelerates injustice, making any utility a moot point.
I believe the way it is generally being pushed and sold (and designed) is a huge part of the problem, as those methods rarely invite reflection and reasoning. Hence the focus on the inevitability messaging. But yeah, unexpected hostility can go both ways and perhaps addressing the source of the hostility should be of more concern from a societal perspective.

The Borg Complex describes a behavioral pattern wherein people see resistance to technology as pointless. "Technology is inevitable," they say, and we simply must adapt. It is a form of fatalism, often disguised as optimism. It also undermines independent thinking.
