Hello world. I just moved this Akkoma instance from a server on Hetzner in Germany to a server in Sweden. Will save me a small bit of money each month. But nice to see it seems to be working. Federation activity should slowly start returning to normal for me.
My downtime was about 45 minutes.
I'll be starting a server migration in a few minutes and this server may be down for about half an hour.
Fingers crossed it all works out, otherwise I'm also set to roll backâŠ
No messages to me should be lost, as most Fediverse instances are set to retry sending for a day or even two.

@troed The distinction Iâm making is that simply choosing a solution that is geographically closer does not ensure that the solution provider will act in your favor while they control access (Iâm seeing many takes saying that choosing European tools is the answer for example, but that only minimises some aspects of risk, far from all of it). Iâm simultaneously trying to make a general point about becoming dependent on a subscription-based commercially-owned tool for living an autonomous life. I could certainly have been more clear but sometimes I do just throw my thoughts out there :)
