Sverige har också haft ett annat projekt i Ghana som gick ut på att betala för solcellsanläggningar. Det lades ner i juli utan resultat.

Jag ser framför mig när dessa klimatmopeder ska köras på översvämmade vägar i halvmeterdjupt vatten. 🥺
Det finns verkligen inget som är rimligt i den här typen av uppgörelser. En svensk står för mer än dubbla klimatavtrycket, och "vi" vill att de ska minska utsläppen för vår skull. 🙄

While there is current important reporting about the use of CSAM to train Grok, both original and generated content, I’d also like to issue the reminder that this is true for all large computational models where there is no way to verify all the content that goes into their making. People are, for some reason, just really adept at dismissing this from memory.
I could never bring myself to generate a generic photo using ”AI”, as I could never know if the software outputs the likeness of someone who has been abused, murdered or involved in an accident, child or adult. The potential further impact of this is horrifying to me.

Note: Once the computational model has been trained on this material, that’s it. You can’t take it out. You can’t ”unlearn” specific content from a computation, which is a further important distinction from deterministic software.
And remember that a huge amount of content for image generation ”training” is scraped from both digital and physical assets without any human intervention, so there are more ways for the content to enter than these already tainted datasets.

What xAI’s Grok is allowing users to do, is double-down on this weakness and exploit it in full. The generated images are then treated as training data. All models have this weakness, but xAI does little do discourage it.

Long, balanced, well-written and important read by Nicolas Steenhout about the use of Meta glasses for people with impaired vision. This one is not about how Meta treats people with disabilities as ”pawns” in their efforts to boost acceptance for the glasses and influence EU regulation, it is primarily a piece about what is being inferred about people with disabilities without their own involvement.
The quote below reflects a further concern and is an example of something I worry about more and more – the idea of giving Meta even more power and how that can then be used to disempower people with disabilities in yet-to-be-thought-of ways. Breaking free from a dependency on people in you immediate environment can be a shift into a long-distance dependency on people in a big tech company across the world. And what does this imply about autonomy and self-determination? What does it imply about costs, both financial and emotional?

The idea of "falling behind" by not going all-in on a specific technology is a marketing ploy used to create artificial urgency. It's not a fact. If you don't walk down one path you walk down another path. Both have unknown outcomes.
The claim of "falling behind" is the wording that should deter you from that path. In essence it is trying to force a future on you that is beneficial to a specific agent, often out of commercial interest. The claim does not invite you to reflect on your own, or your community’s, needs and wishes.
Artificial urgency is an enemy to independent, thoughtful progress.
