Agree here. Anything that makes it easier for abusers to share lists of targets is something you’d want to avoid.
Related to this is how I see it being an act of care to ask permission to add someone to a ”follow friday” tag. Far from everyone wants that attention.
I believe the simple answer is that you can only see hashtags for toots that your server knows about. So if you subscribe to a hashtag you will see anything from the Federated timeline with that hashtag also in your Home timeline.

That's an interesting example. A considerate approach that can be "solved" in more ways. If you set your post to Welsh other people can choose to filter those out if they want. But that's a more complex setting, so I totally get the CW in this case.
I noticed Mastodon set the language of this reply to Welsh(!) so I need to change that before posting. I do wonder how that is supposed. Perhaps that's your default setting?

I can appreciate content warnings (CWs). A lot. And I’m not a person who necessarily needs any for my wellbeing.
But I do often avoid opening posts that warn about ‘uspol’. That does make me feel better.
There are people who need CWs for their wellbeing. For reasons I do not always understand. And I do not *have* to understand. CWs remind me of that.
Content warnings are like adding a layer of compassion and consent, and I personally can not see a reason to object to that.

And if you truly do not need them, you can disable content warnings in settings under Sensitive Content. There's one setting for sensitive images and another for having post with CWs always expanded.
Imagine that, the compassionate setting is default and you still have control over changing it.
You can do more and actually set all images to hidden.
Quick sidenote: this is a great time to reflect on the best option for your wellbeing, before you change any settings.
Makes me ponder that AI is by definition the removal of reflection, emotion, curiosity and exploration.
That should be a better guide for what use-cases are suited for AI and which are not. Sadly too many benefit financially from the removal of human connection. 😢

You can migrate by first creating the new account, then setting the old account to move there and then starting the migration process in both accounts. All follows and followers can be carried over. Your posts will not be carried over but you can export and save them.
It’s an entirely new account so any modified settings you had you would need to set again.

Nice. Yes, had I been aware of this when I set up my server I would have done it from the top with my primary domain as the main handle. But changing it now feels like so many things will potentially break 😊
