The reason Grok so easily can generate nudes of children is because it is trained on that type of content. It is not using "imagination".
Too few are saying this part aloud. Any face generated using image-gens can be from a situation of abuse.
Explained: Image generators need so much data that there is no one at the companies that build them who can keep track of where the data comes from and what is actually portrayed in the source data. No one can take responsibility, which the bros embrace as a feature, not a bug.
That is why I am particularly bothered by generated images of children, as it has previously been shown that large datasets likely contain many images of abuse. There are such large amounts of images that it would take thousands of years to look through them. Which to me makes it obvious that they contains violent images of all kinds.
So when an image (or film) is generated where children appear – in any situation, I always wonder: why does that particular child's face appear? Whose child might have fallen victim to the computational model this time... resurfacing pain that refuses to go away when tech companies immortalize it.
And yes, of course this goes beyond children.
This makes me truly shudder amongst all other carnage the software causes.

"The most effective kind of propaganda is defined as the kind where the subject moves in the direction you desire for reasons which he believes to be his own."

Tell me this is not exactly what tech companies are doing. And UX, my own industry, has a lot to answer for.
I believe the most shocking moment of television I’ve ever experienced was today.
An episode of Younger, a series I’m really enjoying.
This episode though.
The barn. Stella. 😱🐑
What. the. xxxx.
@iakonkret Tack!

I have to say, the Bluesky bridge is confusing for me(!)
I don't use it myself but sometimes I respond to posts and only realise much later it was from a bridge account, in which case the user may or my not see my reply. I certainly don't see my reply on Bluesky. Same thing can happen vice versa.
I don't want a compulsory opt-in to another service, I want the AT and ActivityPub protocols to be compatible. In lieu of that the bridge accounts need to be a lot more obvious in their presentation.
Right now I'm not sure if the brid.gy service makes things better or worse but it feels like the latter to me.

❤️ Even I can still remember the gratification of just staring out the window for an extended period of time. As the snow started pillowing down today, I think I may have done a bit of it again.
Thinking of reinstalling my computer from scratch to iron out all its kinks and tardiness from years of software experiments and trials. Just need to make sure all files are backed up... as I don't want to reinstall the computer from a backup – which would defeat the purpose.
My other task is I want to turn my old Mac mini into a home server. But that needs many hours of focus... haven't done something like that before.
I think my main concern is getting tech issues out of the way and all my devices set up in the best possible way to support me in not having to deal with tech issues the rest of the year... haha.
@maria God fortsättning! 🎊
@meraord Gott nytt år! 🥳
