Very few tools out there allow you to enter your Mastodon account as part of your social media presence. If you are in a position to influence that, go for it.
Meanwhile, you may want to grab the Mastodon logo in svg format for use on websites and in print.

But I am aware of the friction within the dev leadership.
Hoping more community involvement can make a difference and move the platform in a better direction.

One way of rolling your own instance is paying someone to do it for you.

If you are a group of friends paying together, the cost can become really low.
Another way of running your own instance is of course by installing Mastodon yourself on your own server.
You may or may not feel comfortable doing this. But a service that helped me gain the confidence to go down this path is this one:

@atomicpoet Hetzner is usually a safe bet. Iām likely going down this route as well.
@evijitghosh The check is done when you save the profile. I donāt think it actually āre-triesā at regular intervals. So I think you actually have to edit your profile and first remove the links, save, and then add them back and save again.

There has recently been a huge rush of people trying out Mastodon. This is also noticeable in the number of people reading my earlier Mastodon Guide. I wanted to take this opportunity to provide a brief list of usage tips that I wish I had at hand when first setting up my Mastodon home.
