The blog post I wrote in Swedish the night before my surgery Is now available in English as well. I added an addendum, to make note of how overly excited I was to 'change things' before surgery, and how exhausted I am now.
A large part of it is an hommage to Lillian Gilbreth. 😊

@LeoR1010 Jag blev inte besviken. 😊
@urig Just noticed your header picture. I had a Dragon 32 as my second computer after my Sinclair ZX81. 😊
Slow Horses season 4 just dropped. 🎉
Looking for a way to watch V - the original miniseries and/or V: The Final Battle. Any suggestions/ideas are welcome 😊
Update: Found part 1 on the Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/v.-the.-original.-miniseries.-1983.x-264.aac.-part.-1
My Ghost theme automatically displays estimated reading time. Something about it never sat right with me. This was a clear-cut perspective. I'll set aside time to remove it. https://toot.cafe/@matt/113060934547786252

Your regular reminder of how the Internet is far from readily accessible to everyone.

Since newspapers have become computerised, we’ve welcomed spell checkers , grammar checkers, and now AI assistants, I only see more and more spelling mistakes in the news, i.e. multiple times every frickin’ day. I can’t believe how efficient everything has apparently become. 😅
More is better they tell me.
- 5 av 100 vill se en Björn Skifs-film 2-3 gånger om året
- 7 av 100 startar en tankesmedja
- 9 av 100 blir beroende av Lakrisal
- 15 av 100 vill fabulera statistik 2-3 gånger per dag
Tack. 😊
@LeoR1010 Verkligen! 😁
English: Tomorrow I’ll start up my rehab training at home for real. Found a couple of sitting exercise videos I'm going to try. Do not hesitate to suggest other possible sessions/activities you may have stumbled upon. I want to make this into something fun. Walking is no problem even if I’m a bit slow. Trampoline jumping is probably the least suitable. 😅

@daniel Ja den håller fortfarande. Såg precis klart. 😊
@cgruenloh Oh I didn't know about that campaign. What a brilliant initiative, and what a heartbreaking story!
We definitely need more campaigns like this all over.
@impactology @stephenpa Love this thread Raghav. ✌️
Something I’ve noticed about catching people’s names now that I’ve met dozens upon dozens of new people during my hospital stay:
In Swedish it’s just as common to say ”Per heter jag” as it is to say ”Jag heter Per”. Both of those mean ”My name is Per”. It’s of course possible to say ”Per is my name” in English but I don’t pick up on that order of words as often as I do in Swedish.
When people enter your room and immediately say ”Per is my name, hello, how are you, it’s time for your meds” there’s a TON of information in there. My chances of remembering the name of a new person is next to zero, unless they have the same name as me or one of my family members. And the meds part really brings focus away from the person I’m meeting for the first time.
Making sure to lead with how you are about to say your name: ”Hello, my name is Per”, pausing for my response and then continuing with ”I am here to…” gives me a sporting chance.
When people say ”My name is” my alertness immediately rises as I make an effort to remember their name, because I know it’s coming. When said in the reverse it’s much too late. My alertness wasn’t there.
For some reason people also tend to mumble more at the beginning of a sentence (my experience during this week), even when it’s the most important part.

@ambivalena Yeah, it's like I'm a child again, wanting to impress everyone around me with everything I'm able to do.
